CASA LAPOSTOLLE - Chardonnay 2006 75cl Bottle

Harvest: The frost came early in September resulting in very low yields in 2004. They averaged between 2 and 5 tons per hectare. The frost meant that vine growth in Casablanca was slower than in other areas. The very hot temperatures in Summer were moderated by the cooler nights. The Chardonnay grapes slowly reached their optimal ripeness, and were picked between the 5th and 19th of April. Fortunately the rains only came once the grapes had been picked. A very good year for Casablanca, with fresh fruit aromas and excellent acidity. Vinification: 13% of the must was barrel fermented and aged for 9 months in new oak (5%) and 1-2 years oak barrels (95%) with lees stirring twice a month. 87% went through fermentation and aging in vats. Temperature of fermentation was between 16 to 23C in the barrels and 16-17C in vats. Bottled from the 23rd of February until the 4th of March 2004. Tasting Notes: Colour: Bright yellow with beautiful greenish hints. Nose: Attractive and fresh, notes of exotic fruits and fresh citrus with well-integrated hints of oak on the finish. Mouth: Very good well integrated acidity with a full and round structure, together with a concentration that is present from the beginning. The finish has nice hints of oak showing an elegant toasted complexity. Long and pleasant finish.
