Domaine de Pradet Colombard Sauvignon 2004 WHITE France

For simple fresh fruity whites it is hard to beat trusty Colombard ... this traditional French grape was originally from the Charentais in France where it was (and still is) used to make Cognac and Armagnac. Luckily winemakers have experimented! Take Domaine de Pradet. Situated in Bas Armagnac one of the oldest viticultural regions in France the estate has long made Armagnac but under the dynamic ownership of husband and wife team of Colette and Guy Vignoli now exploits Colombard's potential for extremely quaffable fridge-friendly whites. And they have added extra Sauvignon to give it that zingy gooseberry freshness. Hence the zestiness of this thrilling green fruited wine and the light herbaceous notes. Clean fresh fruity character .. with a hint of crisp apples.
