Magical is the best way to describe this 'reworking' Down Under of the grape more usually known known for its role in Portugal's fabled fortified wine - Madeira. Verdelho just loves the Aussie sun ... and 2005 has proved to be a stunning vintage all round. It makes a "tangy soft peach and lime wine" (The Daily Express) that is rapidly gaining a big fan base particularly among those tiring of over-oaked over-priced big brand Oz Chardonnays. Fresh and lively nose of tropical and citrus characters. Generous mouthwatering melon and passion fruit plus zesty lemon and warm honey. Tongue-tingling stuff! (The tropical fruit character chimes well with Asian fish and vegetable dishes too).
