Sturt and Hume Chenin Colombard 2006 WHITE Australia

Named after two early 19th Century explorers (Sturt was the first explorer to venture along the Murray River) the Sturt & Hume range is a small selection of wines put together by the excellent "Buronga Hill boys" each year. Winemaker Matt Fawcett - who worked at Brown Bros for many years - created this crisp and refreshing Chenin Blanc with a splash of Colombard for added zest. In style it's a thoroughly modern Australian wine - unoaked and with beautifully defined fruit. At just 12% alcohol it is deliberately more elegant than the big heavy Australian Chardonnays that have flooded the market in recent years.
