Nicolas Potel Premier Cru Morgeot 2004 WHITE France

To many "the glorious whites of Chassagne-Montrachet" (Parker) are the greatest still dry white wines grown anywhere in the world. And they have no greater champion than Nicolas Potel and his ripe complex famously rich single-vineyard Premier Crus. Nicolas Potel comes from a long line of dedicated winemakers and has a perfectionist's eye for detail. His father ran the world famous Domaine Pousse d'Or until his untimely death in 1996. Nicolas then set out on his own and has rapidly earned a reputation as one of the region's top negociants crafting "excellent wines" (The Times). His approach in the vineyard is bio-dynamic - allowing the natural rhythms of nature to dictate 'management' of the soil and vines. Seriously rich wine with lots of toasty vanillin oak lovely citrus and apple fruit. There's a buttery quality too in the mouth ... lovely ripe fruit and a steely precision. Fine length and persistence.
