L'Ecluse Chardonnay 2002 WHITE France

Praised by the press for its flavour awarded trophies for value and a Silver medal for quality by international judges ... this is a perfect all-round Chardonnay that works as an aperitif with an entree or with a rich fish dish. From Carcassonne in France's Midi this beat four Grand Cru Chablis four Meursault and top end New World at the International Wine Challenge. The aim was to create a wine that combined the sunshine ripe fruit of the New World with the classy backbone of French Chardonnay. And did they succeed! Almost honeyed on the nose with round ripe and generous orange scented pear and apricot flavours. Lovely long palate and very well balanced this is a big classy Chardonnay that would make a great alternative to Burgundy. Drink to end 2006.
