Hurtado Reserve Casablanca Chardonnay 2004 WHITE Chile

On a visit to Chile Club staff discovered this barrel-aged Chardonnay in the cellars of three times Chilean Winemaker of the Year Adolfo Hurtado. One taste of the delicate fruit mouthwatering crispness and delicious minerality - and it was an instant favourite! The only trouble ... it was promised to another buyer. So when news came that the deal had fallen through we jumped at the chance! This rich elegant Reserva comes from the ultra-premium Casablanca valley renowned for producing "unquestionably Chile's best" whites (Wines of South America Mitchell Beazley) and a haven for top-flight wines. "Vibrant citrus fruits subtle notes of vanilla and almonds with attractive minerality. After 3 years' careful ageing it's beautifully mature - refreshing and vibrant with rich buttery oak and developing a complexity reminiscent of the finest white Burgundy. Delicious!" - Adolfo Hurtado
