Padthaway has long been the secret source of many fine Australian Chardonnays but as the fruit was blended with other regions it did not always appear on the label. But Padthaway is premium Chardonnay country and part of South Australia's larger Limestone Coast wine region. Cooling coastal breezes temper the otherwise relentless Aussie sun and allow for lovely freshness in the wines. The Haselgrove winery in the McLaren Vale boasts a fabulous new winery - legacy of its recent ownership by Cranswick estate. Under Senior winemaker Simon Parker the quality of the Chardonnay (and indeed all the wines!) has simply never been better. Wine Challenge award-winner has classic peach and melon fruit with a creamy fresh texture. Serve on its own or with grilled swordfish or roast chicken.
