Familie Reuscher Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Auslese 2006 WHITE Germany

The small Reuscher-Haart winery has just 4.3 hectares under vine but on the best sites in Piesporter. Owner Franz-Hugo Schwang replanted his vines in the 1990s and trained them in such a way as to reduce yields. The Piesporter Goldtropfchen is quite simply the best site and makes the village's finest wine. This late-harvest Riesling from 2006 is beautifully ripe and well-balanced. Honey notes with lime and passion fruit give way to bracingly fresh flavours and lovely balanced sweetness. A very modest 8.5% alcohol - typical of so many fine German wines - allows you to enjoy this wine in moderation at lunchtime or mid-week guilt-free!
