Don Cristobal La Pinta Vineyard Viognier 2007 WHITE Argentina

From vineyards high in the Andes - some 700 metres above sea level - comes this wonderfully crisp mouthwatering Viognier. The vineyards are named after 'La Pinta' - one of the first ships to sail across the Atlantic in Christopher Colombus' fleet. Since the conquistadores arrived in the 15th century vines have been planted in this region - long before any of the Bordeaux Chateaux were established. Until recently the perfect growing conditions have been a relative secret ... now is the time to discover the sheer fruit-packed quality of Argentinian wines! Just 20 years ago Viognier was rarely seen outside of its native Northern Rhone. Now it has established itself as a classic in several countries and most notably in Argentina. This little classic boasts powerful aromas of spices and honeysuckle and exotic fruits. The flavours are dry and aromatic. Serve this with spicy stir-fries satay chicken or a mango and prawn salad.
