Albastrele Sauvignon Blanc 2006 WHITE Moldova

There's a fresh purity of fruit in Moldova's ancient vineyards aching to find its way to the world's wine drinkers (The Financial Times). Fortunately some of the best already has and we definitely count this explosive Sauvignon among them. Consultant winemaker and Sauvignon expert Jean Marc Saubuoa was blown away by the quality of this wine. Forget any preconceptions you may have about this little known region it's gradually gaining the recognition it deserves and hasn't really enjoyed since the time of the Tsars. Now is the time to be taking full advantage while prices remain so modest. Fresh cut grass and asparagus style with a hint of ripe passion fruit. Delicious on its own and even better served with barbecued prawn kebabs hot goat's cheese salad or freshly steamed asparagus.
