Chateau Les-Ormes-de-Pez 2004 RED France

Chateau-Les-Ormes-de Pez takes its name from the nearby village of Pez while 'Les Ormes' refers to a copse of elm trees long since disappeared. In the 19th century the property belonged to a local councillor and after a couple of changes of ownership was bought by Jean Charles Cazes. Today it is owned by Jean Charles' grandson Jean Michel who also owns Chateau Lynch Bages in Pauillac. Indeed the barrels for ageing the wine (usually for a period of 15 months) are from Lynch Bages. "Deliciously rich black fruit-laden Bordeaux red from one of the finest communes in the Haut-Medoc. Full and concentrated cassis and graphite flavours emerge on the finish. Best enjoyed after an hour or two spent breathing in a decanter with roasted red meats or game."
