Chateau La Tuiliere 2005 RED France

Three years ago in search of a more complex deeply flavoured style the Estournet family drafted in the brilliant Pascal Poussevin (consultant to #300-a-bottle Cheval Blanc). Drawn from Pascal's decades of Grand Vin know-how the result is a flagship claret that's won awards every year since! Their excellent 2005 is no exception having pipped many a pricier rival to Gold at the leading Paris wine show. Mature vines - like Chateau La Tuiliere's 60-year-old vines just north of Saint-Emilion - are coveted treasures in Bordeaux as they yield the most finely flavoured and aromatic grapes. Typical of the finest claret this has been patiently barrel-aged for 12 months - adding Bordeaux's hallmark layers of smooth complexity to the mouthfilling depths of plum blackberry and spice. Delicious!
