Chateau Castelbruck 2005 RED France

Sometime you must go beyond the obvious - that's certainly the secret of enjoying the treasures of the hallowed village of Margaux at the best possible price. Take this dream Margaux for example priced for 'the real world' thanks to a tip-off from an old friend. Everything you could want and from the superb 2005 vintage. You are clearly on to a winner here! Chateau Castelbruck is a tiny property whose vineyard nearly disappeared when the previous owner retired in 1992 but was rescued through the care of Margaux vigneron Jacques de Schepper. This is really quite a coup because French claret enthusiasts are masters at holding onto the best value wines for themselves - Castelbruck rarely makes it across The Channel. Black plum colour. Ripe aromas of mellow black fruits with a touch of mint and spicy cloves. Wonderfully ripe Cabernet flavours in perfect balance with supple Merlot. Ideal partner for roasts hearty casseroles and firm cheeses.
