Chateau Cadet Piola 1998 RED France

Cadet Piola is a rich intense and full-bodied wine that outperforms many more famous and expensive Grand Crus (Parker) ... at half the price! Supple opulent and complex - this is the essence of fine patiently aged Merlot-rich claret. Cadet Piola is a small estate just 500 metres from the town of Saint-Emilion. The Jabiol family use the estate purely for winemaking purposes and not as a residence. Parker believes it can only be the relatively small size of production that keeps this wine such an insiders' secret because it has few rivals in the region for quality and value. The wine is a blend of Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc and Malbec and is aged 18 months in oak barrels 40% of which are renewed yearly. 1998 is a classic vintage showing saturated colour and aromas of blackberries cassis minerals liquorice and sweet oak. Now perfectly mature.
