With its creamy oak blackberry and tobacco flavours and smooth mellow maturity Castillo Labastida 2000 is an irresistible Rioja from an historic vintage. Energetic winemaker Manuel Ruiz Pedreira has plenty of experience having worked several vintages in Germany as well as for renowned Bodegas Faustino. Together with his father - also a well-respected winemaker - Manuel has built on the work of founder Don Manuel Quintano who introduced the Bordeaux winemaking techniques that converted Labastida into a pioneering estate way back in 1787. Impressively deep rich blackberry fruit spiced strawberry and dark chocolate aromas. Mellow vanilla oak and spice give a smooth structured finish that lasts and lasts. Well worth decanting before to enjoying with roast lamb or turkey.
