Villa Icona Sangiovese 2006 RED Italy

The good news is that it still costs but a fraction of the price of the top Chianti Riservas it beat a few short years ago at the world's biggest wine competition! Unbeatable value Villa Icona is made from the same grape as Chianti but hails from the beautiful eastern coastal region of Le Marche that's starting to garner the rave reviews it deserves. The 2006 shows wonderful complexity of earthy mineral notes and great vanilla and redcurrant fruit. Very lovely wine to serve with meaty pasta dishes from spaghetti to lasagne.
