Torero Tempranillo 2005 RED Spain

Tempranillo appears under various pseudonyms throughout Spain. It is not only the country's 'workhorse' grape it also fashions its finest wines from Rioja to Ribero del Durero. In the exciting go-ahead region of Navarra (much-loved by Hemmingway) you find many cutting-edge estates and an atmosphere of innovation thanks to Spain's most influential wine research centre. Torero sums up all that is so positive about Tempranillo and the Navarra region. It's a regular medal-winner at London's International Wine Challange which just serves to show what a modern international style of wine this is. Classic damson and raspberry aromas with underlying vanilla oak. Smooth and fruit-driven with a lovely ripe-fruit persistence. Serve as the locals might with rabbit casserole or breast of wood pigeon. Alternatively its a great partner for spaghetti bolognese bangers and mash or a shepherds pie.
