Terre des Papes 2004 RED France

Terres des Papes is a rare beast made only in great years and from all 13 Chateauneuf-du-Pape grape varieties - an ambitious blend for anyone but the most experienced winemaker. And they do not come much more experienced than Andre Roux. This is his 69th vintage and he tells us he'd have been happy to retire with fantastic Terres des Papes 2004. Gold and the coveted 'felicitations du jury' at the big local show saw this red outdo many far pricier Chateauneufs. Classic warmth of spicy baked fruit and a huge complex mouthful of peppery damson and ripe blackberry.
