Sierra Almiron 2005 RED Spain

Sierra Almiron is the personal project of a man usually known for his #20 Rioja yet this richly smooth red is just a tiny and affordable fraction of that a bottle and here's why. A canny investment and kid glove care. Further south of Rioja land in up-and-coming La Mancha is much cheaper ... but comes with seriously old vines. Add the sort of attention to detail you'd expect from a family acclaimed for "bringing a new benchmark of quality to Rioja" (The Independent)- from hand-picking to prolonged fermentation - and you can taste the result. Dark purple with spicy aromas and a sumptuous explosion of smooth plum and blackberry flavours. Top vintage depth and beautifully rich. Enjoy with roasts or meaty tapas.
