Scrimshaw Shiraz 2005 RED Australia

Scrimshaw Shiraz is a deliciously rich barrel-aged red crafted using premium fruit from vineyards in McLaren Vale - a region renowned as Australia's Chateauneuf because of its profoundly deep powerful reds. Linda Domas virtuoso winemaker behind this lavish treat specialises in tiny parcels of handcrafted 'boutique' wines like this one. With only 30 barrels made Linda had no need to compromise on quality - lavishing the wine with painstaking care from vineyard to bottle This small-scale approach is refreshing considering a staggering 97% of Aussie wine is made by just 22 wineries. It can mean high prices but not with this deal! "Aussie Shiraz is now recognised as one of the world's great wines" says Tim Atkin MW as Scrimshaw will more than demonstrate. Intense colour indicates huge concentration and indeed a big pepper-edged mouthful of rich succulent red and black berry fruit confirms this. Hints of vanilla and a chocolaty complexity are weaved in from the oak. Tremendous with steaks or rich pasta sauces.
