Strict rules govern yields in Spain's most famous wine region and in bountiful vintages it's traditional to label a portion of the delicious result simply as Vino de Mesa. Hence the low price of this silky red from Rioja's top quality enclave of Alavesa. Deliciously soft and juicy in style brimming with vibrant ripe redcurrant and forest fruit flavours. (San Cristobal is five-star vintage Rioja in the bottle just not on the label ... a genuine bargain!)
