Palacio del Conde Gran Reserva 2000 RED Spain

Carpeted in vines and thriving orange trees this part of Spain is like heaven on earth. The Palacio Conde cellar has been established 90 years and the grape vines that made this wine are half a century old. This combination of mature vines and great winemaking traditions have helped produce a really majestic Gran Reserva. But there's one other important element ... Multi-medal wining winemaker Jesus Garcia Alvarez is still only in his mid thirties yet has worked with such esteemed estates as Baron Phillippe Rothschild in Chile and at several others in top Spanish regions like Ribera del Duero. His expertise brings a modern touch to this otherwise deeply traditional region. To attain its Gran Reserva status Palacio del Conde was aged 18 months in American oak barrels - a process that has added great complexity and maturity to the taste. Mellow raspberry and blackberry fruit with fine vanilla-spice notes. Decant and serve with roast lamb beef or flame-grilled fillet steak.
