Pagos de Tahola Reserva 1998 RED Spain

The delicious Pagos de Tahola made from 100% Tempranillo from a vineyard first planted by the Chavarri family in 1882 was lovingly crafted Don Francisco Chavarri and his daughter Ruth and given an extra long period of ageing to qualify for Reserva status. Rioja Reserva of this quality and age is now rare indeed - it's an expensive style to make (and cellar). What's more the 1998 "was extremely successful ... a classic Rioja Reserva year with delicious long-lasting wines" (John Radford the world's leading Rioja expert) Perfectly mature at nine years with blackberry and herb aromas rich brambly fruit and a smooth sweet vanilla oak finish. Wonderful!
