Las Casas de Vaqueria Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 RED Chile

We discovered Las Casas de Vaqueria at the Donoso estate high in the hills of Chile's Maule Valley and one of the very oldest estates here. The first vines were brought from Bordeaux France in the late 1800s and many still survive today thanks to the care of the estate's French owners who have fully restored these ancient vineyards. The estate is celebrating 100 years of winemaking excellence and is blessed with row upon row of ancient Cabernet vines. The warm climate here makes for a wonderfully rich smooth expression of this noble variety. Bright ruby red colour and aromas of blackcurrant briar fruit and eucalyptus. Medium bodied with juicy cassis fruit and a lively redcurrant/mint kick adding freshness and vibrancy. Great on it's own and food-friendly too!
