The Boland Kelder winery is home to some of South Africa's finest Shiraz with scores of trophies to its credit. Its acclaimed winemaker is Altus le Roux. A former International Winemaker of the Year he has won the Best Shiraz Trophy at the London Wine Trade Fair - twice! Altus insists on 100% hand-picked fruit ensuring only the best grapes make it into his flagship Shiraz. And 2006 was a great year! Classic fresh-ground pepper and black fruit nose. Vanilla notes and a toasty layer show the gentle oak-ageing giving way to dark chocolate and cherry flavours. Soft enough to savour by itself great with robust festive fare.
