Gran Tarapaca Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 RED Chile

Tarapaca are based in the Maipo Valley whose rocky easily drained soil (irrigated by mountain snowmelt) makes for quality wine often compared to Bordeaux and the Napa Valley. And that's precisely where chief winemaker Sergio Correas did his training. The vines were taken from the great vineyards of Bordeaux and Burgundy and subsequently the wines from Tarapaca encapsulate everything that is great about Chile - old world elegance and new world rich fruit depth. Medium-bodied with soft cassis and blackcurrant aromas lead to a soft rounded mouthful of succulent black fruits finishing delicately with a hint of spicy oak. Perfect with pasta in pesto strong cheeses and roasted red meats.
