Gran Calero 2006 RED Spain

When Club buyers Thomas Woolrych and James Snoxell returned from a trip to Spain's remote Yecla region they could not contain their enthusiasm for a giant 15% red they'd tasted "HUGE levels of concentrated black fruit but so luxuriously smooth ... and what a bargain!" Gnarled old Monastrell vines flourish under Yecla's baking hot sun and the Calero family who have owned their cellar here since the 1900s are known as "Kings of Monastrell". Now with multi-accoladed Ana Isabel Rubio as chief winemaker the quality of the wines they are producing is staggering! In fact Robert Parker has awarded wine she has made from these same grapes 90 points! "Gloriously dark and rich - an effortlessly silky mouthful of concentrated complex black fruit flavour.
