Feudo Di Maria Syrah Nero d'Avola 2005 RED Italy

Nero d'Avola is a native of Sicily and when blended with Syrah it makes an especially exciting red wine with rich fruit spice and round tannins. The Di Marias have a long history of winemaking but are definitely not bound by tradition! Since 2000 they have teamed up with fellow local experts the Biscardo family in order to produce very high quality Sicilian wines - experimenting on young vineyards from bud to harvest to bottle. 2005 was a top vintage in Sicily and escaped the rain that hindered the harvest in many areas on the mainland. Conditions were warm but there was no excessive heat so grapes could ripen gradually.
