Familia Martinez Bujanda Gran Reserva 1996 RED Spain

This is a classic for Rioja lovers. Legendary Bodegas Martinez Bujanda are regularly voted into the top 50 wineries in the due largely to their meticulous focus on quality. All their grapes come from their own vineyards so they are picked at optimum ripeness. Our long association with Bujanda (we were the first to import their wines in 1985) means we have first pick from their cellars. The 1996 won a number of awards including a silver medal at the IWC in London in 2004 who describe it as "Cherries violet notes and warm vanilla oak. Leathery evolution hints at its age." Every bit a classic and absolutely perfect right now!
