Castillo Labastida 2006 RED Spain

With its creamy oak and fresh red berry flavours barrel-aged gem Castillo Labastida is always an irresistible Rioja. It's made by energetic winemaker Manuel Ruiz Pedreira who has plenty of experience having worked several vintages in Germany as well as for renowned Bodegas Faustino. Together with his father - also also a well-respected winemaker - Manuel has built on the work of founder Don Manuel Quintano who introduced the Bordeaux winemaking techniques that converted Labastida into a pioneering estate way back in 1787. "Lashings of fresh red berry fruit spiced strawberry and dark chocolate aromas. Mellow vanilla oak and spice give a smooth structured finish that lasts and lasts. Perfect with roast lamb and tapas."
