Arriero Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 RED Argentina

The Mendoza province is the grape-growing area in Argentina and Arriero is the area's second largest winery. It has invested heavily to produce good value high quality New World wines - like this deliciously smooth Shiraz Cabernet. The vineyards are about 60km north of Mendoza itself which is an area of cold winters and hot summers. Rainfall is low but abundant snowmelt from the mountains allows irrigation when required. At 800 metres above sea level the variation between day and night temperatures accentuates the aromatic intensity of the grapes. And 2006 was a dry vintage giving wines of impressive concentration. You'll love the spicy brambly cassis character of this wine. It's smooth and instantly appealing. Serve with roast lamb or beef casserole.
